About Me

Hello! My name is Christine and I am the owner and creator of the FINE for School program.

I am a Primary School Teacher and I have been teaching in Primary Education for more than 12 years. I have a Bachelor in Teaching and a Bachelor in Education with Distinction. I am currently a Reading Recovery Teacher and my experience in teaching has been predominately in the Infants Department. I am also a mother of two beautiful boys who are at primary school.

I am passionate about helping children learn through providing fun, hands on, structured educational activities. I have a keen interest in literacy and numeracy plus a desire to help educate children and empower their parents with knowledge about how to prepare their children for school.

I have developed the unique FINE for School program as I believe there is an increasingly high need for students to participate in an explicit school readiness program. The program focuses on the integration of the three essential skills for classroom learning: Fine Motor, Oral Language and Early Literacy/Numeracy.

Prior literacy knowledge is not a requirement for kindergarten. However, the dynamic school curriculum does not allow for a great deal of time to focus on some skills such as letter identification, handwriting or sharing news. Additionally, children develop at different rates and learn in different ways. I believe that by having some basic skills already in place, will help children significantly. This means children can process and implement information faster, allowing them to become independent learners - which is the ultimate goal.

Someone once told me that my teaching was like magic. This is where I have developed one of my slogans, ‘When learning happens, the magic begins."  I love watching children’s eyes brighten and shine like stars as they learn new skills. Teaching is extremely rewarding and lots of fun.

My favourite motto is ‘Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.’ (Anonymous)

Warmest Regards,
Christine
